Asus Flaunts UpComing Smartwatch In New Teaser

With IFA quickly approaching, Asus released another teaser for its upcoming smartwatch. The device will debut during the company’s scheduled press conference  on September 3.

Last week ASUS confirmed that it will unveil its new smartwatch on September 3rd at IFA in Berlin, and today the company shared a glimpse of what we can expect to see next week. Taking to its official Facebook page, the Taiwanese electronics maker posted sketches of  of its forthcoming smartwatch. Accompanied by a quote from Khalil Gibran, that was used last week to announce the device’s IFA event, the image’s text reads: “Time has been transformed, and we have changed.”

ASUS currently has several products on the market that use the “Transformer” name. Perhaps this recycled quote is a clue that the company plans on using the Transformer moniker with its smartwatch. As for the device itself, it appears to have a curved display, giving it more of a traditional watch design, and from the looks of the picture’s chicken scratch,  the gadget will have a leather wristband. It’s rumored that ASUS’s new smartwatch will run Android Wear and ship with an affordable asking price, between $100 to $150, however this has yet to be confirmed. Whatever the case, we’ll find out what ASUS has planned in a little bit more than a week.

Asus posted a tweet that indeed hinted at the company releasing a smartwatch at the IFA 2014.

"Something #Incredible is going to happen at #IFA2014, see you there!" the tweet says.

There are no in depth details yet to the specs of the Asus smartwatch but it will have an AMOLED display and specs close to the Galaxy Wear and LG's G Watch.
